I have been extremely busy lately and haven’t been keeping my blog up-to-date. Christmas has come and gone and Briar has been growing by leaps and bounds!

Fast forward to March; when Briar turned 2! The morning of his party, like every Saturday morning, we watched Dinosaur Train – Briar’s favorite! By lunchtime family and friends had gathered for Briar’s Dinosaur Train themed party. Presents were opened, but the last surprise was on our guests, we announced Beth is pregnant with child #2. Cheer and tears followed. I would like to thank our friends John and Danielle Finley for taking photos of Briar’s birthday so we could enjoy the day. The next day, his actual birthday, was all ours – just Briar, Beth and I. We spent the day playing with new toys and reading new books. One never gets tired of hearing a child’s laugh!

Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day! York was having their annual parade and we stopped in at JR’s for lunch. It was a beautiful day to be outside and hear the sweet sound of bagpipes playing; I just couldn’t get enough! After the parade we went home to lay Briar down for a nap. After dinner we went to the park to take our annual St. Patrick’s Day family photo. Briar was only 7 days old when we took our first family photo 3 years ago.

Beth’s baby bump – 15 weeks

The last of the birthdays for a while belongs to Kara. She is so sweet, I don’t know how you just can’t love her! I have been friends with her parents, Kyle & Ellie since they were 16 & 15 years old. Ellie even introduced me to my wife. We shared a lot of great memories. Fast forward 15 years and both Ellie and Beth were pregnant at the same time. It has been fun watching Kara grow. It’s hard to believe she is already walking! What a big girl!

Last Saturday was Kara’s 1st birthday party. Though Kara was a little under the weather, that didn’t slow her down one bit. She was all excited about opening her gifts and when it came time for cake… look out! She was off to a good start but then started to fizzle towards the end. So Ellie decided to smash her sweet Abby Caddaby cake right into poor Kara’s face! One would think that would have been the end, cue the waterworks but oh no, not Kara. She just laughed it off. And after she was done, Timber became the one dog clean up crew. Thanks again, Kyle and Ellie for allowing us to share in your special day.

It was a crazy month for birthdays! We had Briar’s, my Grandmother’s, Mine, Beth’s and my brother, Tim and finally Briar’s friend, Max. Oh and tomorrow we are going to Kara’s 1st birthday. WOW!

On March 18th, Max turned two! His party was held at Gymboree in Lancaster. I was never there before but let me tell you, this place is AWESOME! Not only did all the kids have fun, but I am pretty sure a lot of us “adults” did too. If you have never heard of Gymboree it is a place where you can take your toddlers to for some activities. A gym for kids. They have mats laid out everywhere (saftey first) with slides, monkey bars, tubes to crawl through, you name it! When it came time for cake, Max had an amazing dinosaur ice cream cake! Then the party was over any everyone got a stamp on their hand. It was a great day! Thanks again Kristy and Eric for inviting us, we had a blast!

The many faces of Max.

It was a long day!

We celebrated my wife’s 30th birthday this past weekend. Though it wasn’t a surprise, we did have to get her out of the house so we could decorate and set up for the party. I even put together a slideshow of photos of her through the years. Her dad remembers those days well. Her mom bought an fruit arrangement that looked amazing and candy from the 80′s! Everyone had a blast with the Pop Rocks. After everyone had left and Briar was in bed, she got to relax by playing Scrabble on her new iPad 2. Happy 30th Babe, you are more amazing then ever!

Briar did not enjoy his 1st birthday cake. He just didn’t get his sweet tooth yet. So when my birthday rolled around 3 week later we thought we would try again. Mimi let him suck the chocolate icing off the candle which he really seemed to enjoy. Now we were getting somewhere. So we stripped him down and sat him in the high chair and let him attempt another go at it. It was funny, it was messy, it was great! My wife, Beth, did try to get some cake into his mouth but he just wasn’t that into the “cake” part of it. He wanted the icing. And boy did he ever! Afterwards we cleaned him all up with one of his favorite pastimes… a bath.
